Some women aren’t happy with their noses. They think it’s too big, too small, too lopsided, too round, too everything. Sometimes, these insecurities stem from childhood. They were teased mercilessly by friends. Or sometimes, they just didn’t like how it looked. As a solution to their dilemma, they go to the plastic surgeon for help. While there’s nothing to worry about because it’s considered to be a very common procedure, there are still protocols you need to follow. If you don’t choose your doctor well, you may end up with an even bigger problem. You will be required to go in for another procedure, and too much of something is just not good.

Technically, a nose job is otherwise known as a rhinoplasty. A slight change can do wonders to your overall appearance. After all, its shape defines the symmetry of the face, and with the wrong size or shape, a person won’t feel as beautiful. While heredity plays a big part, some people also had to undergo reconstruction due to a past accident. Others go through it because the abnormal shape makes breathing uncomfortable, and this is what the experts call a deviated septum.

In order to go through the surgery, you need to be of age, preferably a non-smoker, and at all times, physically healthy. Of course, you will need to talk to your doctor about the changes you’ll require. Do you want to work on the bridge? The flare of your nostrils? The nasal tip? Or, could it be the overall symmetry? Whatever it is, your doctor could give you a clear picture of your appearance after via a computer program. Then, you will need to talk about possible risks. Among the most common scares are a ruptured blood vessel, perforation, clots, discoloration, swelling, and pulmonary complications. These are pretty serious outcomes so you need a surgeon with enough experience under their belts. And of course, the total cost will depend on the facility, surgeon, and amount of work required. While it’s good to look for an expert with reasonable prices, you shouldn’t skimp too much. For any cosmetic surgery, it’s better to pay the considerable difference when your health is at stake.

Anesthesia is definitely required, so you need to set aside time for recuperation. You will be asked to bandage your nose while it heals, and if you’re concerned about privacy, you may want to stay home until your nose is fully healed. A rhinoplasty surgery requires the skills of an artist. Someone skilled will know what the right proportion is. The finished product depends on several factors: size and shape of your face, ethnic background, and other facial features. You need to make it look as natural as possible and look as if your new nose has been tailored-fit. Bones and cartilages can be removed, and what happens then is that the remaining structures are repositioned to make an entirely new framework. The skin around will heal and take a new form naturally. Within a week or two, the pain and discomfort should have fully subsided.
