A rhinoplasty surgery can be tricky. Your nose is found at the very center of your face. If your doctor does a bang-up job, your looks change drastically. Hooked or bigger noses can actually add years to your face and if you’ve been unhappy with the shape of your nose, you need to see a surgeon. You can talk to your doctor about the options you have right now. Not everyone will get a green light when it comes to surgery. The entire procedure can be invasive, and if you aren’t in perfect health or if you are taking medications, your doctor needs to know about it. These could have adverse effects to the anesthesia and the meds you’ll be required to take after. Take proper care and make sure that you have all your needs covered.

The right nose shape can make your face look proportionate. However, you might have to wait a few weeks before you see the full impact of the surgery. The swelling you’ll experience might make you feel that the surgery was a failure. Don’t fret too much. Instead, ask your doctor about what to expect and keep your nose protected while the wound heals. However, you must also always remember that a rhinoplasty might alter your look, but this won’t change your face completely. In fact, some individuals won’t notice it at all.

As the area heals, you might notice that the bridge of your nose might look slightly crooked. The areas around it will be bruised as well. Nonetheless, stay indoors and give your body time to recuperate. Most doctors might tell you that it takes around three months to two years to see the outcome. The time frame, of course, can vary. It all depends on how intensive the changes are. Remember, with every operation, there is a limit. You can only get a rhinoplasty so many times. If you keep changing how you look, your nose might never heal right. To prevent this from happening to you, always go to the right doctor and never trust anyone immediately. Ask for referrals and make sure that they have been board-certified.

When you get home post surgery, you might want to invest in a humidifier. This is to keep your nasal passages moist. Then, stay away from activities where you risk hitting your nose. If you love to play tennis, you might want to switch to another form of workout, at least for the meantime. Remember, always obey the doctor’s orders. If you can’t tolerate the pain as well, you can ask that your doctor prescribe a form of painkillers until the swelling subsides. Otherwise, you should be fine. You might be required to wear a splint as well. You will wear this for about a week. Then, you need to see the doctor once more so he can remove it. Never attempt to remove the bandages yourself. If minor corrections are to be made, try not to overdo these changes. This may be caused by a lot of factors, but the most common of which is the way you sleep. Use big pillows and sleep on your back. Your head needs to be elevated every time you rest. To make sure you heal right, don’t hesitate to call your doctor for help.
